The Story

The Stop Sleeping On God brand was created by Nelson K. Johnson, a God fearing entrepreneur from Pontiac, Mi.

In 2013 Nelson left his stable 9 to 5 to finally take control of his destiny. It was either be compensated for building someone else's dream or build his own - so he ventured off to Los Angeles California to follow a dream of breaking into the film & TV industry and a music producer.

Within months, the pressure started to catch up to him and fear started to settle. Soon, he found himself struggling and breaking down mentally after exhausting his savings and torn between the grind and going back to the 9-5.

He was finally broke and broken and decided to go back home, to Michigan to "start all over again". This moment would turn into one of the most humbling experiences for Nelson. It would also turn into the life changing experience that gave birth to the Stop Sleeping On God Brand.

21 DAYS

Nelson was arrested and spent 21 days in a Utah jail for a crime that he didn't commit. This is where he learned what rock bottom felt like. Sitting in a cell, for the first time in his life, in the middle of nowhere with absolutely nothing, Nelson quickly tapped the presence of God. The time allowed him to hear what God was telling him and to really take a look at his life and where it was headed. At his lowest time in life, God gave him an idea!

"I was trying to fall asleep and I couldn't" Nelson recalled. "The bed was just too uncomfortable". Nelson would eventually read a book by Joyce Meyer that changed his life. "Had I fallen asleep that night, I would have never grabbed that book" he said. The book played a huge part in how Nelson read and understood The Bible. 21 Days later, he was released and cleared of any wrong doing.

8 years later, Nelson recalled those nights in jail and understood that had he chose to sleep on what God was trying to show him in that book, he probably wouldn't have made it out. That is how Stop Sleeping On God was born.
